MELVIC CENTRE hail from New South Wales in Australia and a little earlier in 2025, they released their second album ‘Trawler’ through Aussie label Evil Tone Records.
As a big fan of 90s melodic punk & fuzzy ‘alternative rock’ I fell in love with the album immediately, so it made perfect sense that I’d pick up UK pressing duties for Brassneck.
I’ve heard people reference bands such as Sugar, Doughboys, Lemonheads, Smudge, Farside, Hüsker Dü, Big Drill Car, The Replacements, Hot Water Music, Mega City Four, Samiam and plenty more besides when talking about MELVIC CENTRE. Some of those I agree with and some of them a little less so, but that’s the great thing. This band reminds people of different things and speaks to them in different ways. To steal a line from Evil Tone’s website; “all that matters is Melvic Centre bring ya honest, catchy, melodic punk delivered straight from the heart” and I couldn’t have put it any better myself.
If you’re in the US or Japan, there are distro copies available from BLOATED KAT and WATERSLIDE RECORDS respectively. The band will also have copies available in Australia.
