"Normally, I’d say that evoking the Wipers while talking about a band from Portland would be a bit of a “gimme,” but in this case I think it’s more than warranted. There are definitely hints of their forebear’s bleakest psychedelic tendencies in evidence—and maybe a wee bit of mid-period Sonic Youth as well—but their mind frame and delivery are rooted more in modern hardcore in sensibility and delivery, with churning, occasionally jangly drone-riffs and vocals that are howled as often as they are sung.
