Following the departure of long-time bassist Joel Reader, the band continued to evolve with producer Kevin Army. This remastered edition, expertly revived by Justin Perkins of Mystery Room Mastering and featuring refreshed artwork by Chris Appelgren, brings back the classic tracks that, as noted by All Music's MacKenzie Wilson, "echo the vibes of Pavement's Stephen Malkmus and Sebadoh's Lou Barlow. Highlights include the purist “Leave the Thinking to the Smart People,” the jaunty “Stephanies of the World Unite,” and the wry tribute “Mr. Ramones.” Laid-back and free-spirited, Miracle of Shame is a timeless gem of indie rock.
